PRESIDENT PROFESOR DR. ANTON CARAGEA INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY

Professor Dr. Anton Caragea is an expert in international relations, and development projects, a diplomat and a historian, member of the Parliamentary Assembly for the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.

Anton Caragea is recognized for his enduring work as a human development expert, diplomat, historian and the Director at the Institute for the International Relations and Economic Cooperation of Romania.

He is also a Senior Editor at ''The Independent'' daily newspaper (2000-present day, a foreign policy expert at "Integration (a weekly publication of the Romanian government), and the author of 29 books and over 300 articles and studies referring to European, American and African Culture and History and recent politics.

He was President of National TV (Television) and he created the School of Communication and he developed the Communication For(4) Development activities.

He is a contributor (among many others publications) to Foreign Policy in Focus, WorldPress Institute, Letras Internacionales etc.

He received, in 2008, the ROMANIAN BOOK AWARD for his contribution to culture and historical research

In August 2009 Professor Anton Caragea was elected as President of the European Council on International Relations (E.U.C.I.R) , the leading European think tank on foreign policy affairs, humanitarian activity and development.

In August 2010 the United States Institute announced that Professor Dr. Anton Caragea was selected as PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2010 for his role in promoting the idea of reorganizing Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) during Bucharest Conference on OSCE


In 2012 the United States Biographical Institute selected Professor Dr. Anton Caragea for a second time as MAN OF THE YEAR for his outstanding diplomatic achievements, for supporting the EU-Central Asia connection and for his stances on Arab Spring and the Middle East.

On December 2011 Professor Dr. Anton Caragea was named as Goodwill Ambassador for World Natural Protected Areas in recognition for his efforts in promoting ecology, environment, natural protection and development issues on the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations .

From August 2010, Professor Dr. Anton Caragea was elected for a five-year term as President of the European Council on Tourism and Trade, the European institution dedicated to promoting tourism, economic cooperation and cultural relations between Europe and the rest of the world.


On 30th of November 2012, Professor Dr. Anton Caragea was hailed as The Best Diplomat of 2012, receiving the PRIZE ON VOCATION FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION on behalf of the diplomatic community.

On August 1st, 2016, Professor Dr. Anton Caragea was appointed as AMBASSADOR OF KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA FOR TOURISM.

The appointment was made in recognition of H.E. President Anton Caragea role in world tourism development and in supporting universal recognition of tourism as a tool for international peace and development.

The decree on behalf of ROYAL GOVERNMENT OF CAMBODIA was sealed by the OFFICE OF HIS MAJESTY KING NORODOM SIHAMONI.  In 2013 Professor Dr. Anton Caragea started the diplomatic and international advocacy project of supporting and leading the candidature of ASTANA (capital of Kazakhstan) as organizer of WORLD EXPO 2017.


The year-long and world-level campaign resulted in a resounding victory for Astana who won the bid to uphold World Expo 2017 with an overwhelming majority of votes.

The PR, diplomacy and international advocacy year-long campaign included exhibitions, conferences, diplomatic missions and high-level dialogue that obtained a world consensus for Astana.

In 2014 Professor Dr. Anton Caragea embarked in another worldwide and international advocacy and representation project on behalf of DUBAI (United Arab Emirates) on a bid to host WORLD EXPO 2020 as a hub for energy for tomorrow (the winners theme).

On another year-long campaign encompassing diplomatic activities, tourism and trade mission, international exhibitions and art show presenting to the world the theme of the proposed World expo bid, Dubai had succeeded in overlapping 12 other competitors and won the rights to hold WORLD EXPO 2020.

 On 12 March 2017 Professor Dr. Anton Caragea was announced as the receiver of HUMANITARIAN AWARD FOR FOR CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION IN HUMANITARIAN ACTIITY AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT.

The reasons for the award were his role in: combating hunger, poverty, climate change, and gender inequality while promoting good health, education, clean water and sanitation, and decent work and economic growth as part of the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had supported and inscribed on the national and international agenda items like: encouraging global citizenship through education; advancing peace and conflict resolution through education; addressing issues of poverty through education; promoting sustainability through education; promoting inter-cultural dialogue and understanding, and the "unlearning" of intolerance, through education.
